Traditional bells-only alarms may alert staff, but outside business hours they offer little protection. Police forces will not respond to a ringing bell unless there is evidence of a confirmed offence in progress. Monitored security systems provide protection around the clock. Simply detecting intrusion is not enough. We strongly recommend that all intruder and fire alarm systems are monitored. A monitored alarm is one that is linked via the telephone line or cellular network or both to an ARC. An ARC is a permanently manned call centre whose staff are dedicated to monitoring a variety of alarms such as fire, alarm, panic, flood and temperature, and contacting the correct authority upon activation. An ARC is bound by strict legislation which ensures the highest standards of operation.
